Deep engraving
EngraveFab 50
EngraveFab 50 is our 50 W class fibre engraving cell for deep, permanent marks on steel, mould inserts and tooling where surface marks will not last.
Deep engraving for tooling and inserts
EngraveFab 50 is built for deep engraving jobs that shallow marks or a hand stamp cannot handle. With a 50 W class fibre source, it delivers the energy needed for lasting identification on tool steel, dies, mould inserts and industrial fixtures. You get deep, high-contrast marks that remain readable after heavy use, media blasting or repeated cleaning.
Applications include serial numbers that stay visible after grinding or polishing, marking press tools before hardening, and deep part codes on jigs and change parts for the production line. When your QA or maintenance team needs to check a mark after months of abuse, this is the system for the job.
How EngraveFab 50 performs in the workshop
You run EngraveFab 50 from our recipe-driven interface, selecting the right parameters for your material and mark depth. The cell’s insert clamps hold small or awkwardly shaped parts steady so the marking stays crisp even on complex geometry. Deep mark recipes are tuned for common tool steels, stainless grades and mould alloys.
Wear photo cues make it easy to record a first article mark for later inspection. The system is open-frame, so you can load non-standard parts and large inserts without special jigs. Marking runs are repeatable, and the head delivers consistent depth and legibility whether you’re engraving a single cavity code or a batch of tool ident numbers.
Choosing EngraveFab 50 versus our other marking systems
Choose EngraveFab 50 if the job needs deep, permanent marks that withstand wear, shot-blasting, media cleaning or post-marking machining. It is not for ultra-fine micro codes or thin surface annealing: those are handled by MicroMark Lab or Mark Pro 30.
For basic asset tags or surface serials, the BeamDesk Mini may be enough. If you need both flat and rotary marking in one cell, see DualHead Mark. For deep engraving, heavy-duty inserts or marks that must not disappear under rough handling, EngraveFab 50 is the practical fit.
Site requirements, power and safety notes
EngraveFab 50 runs on 230 V single phase and needs a stable, grounded supply. Always install local extraction as deep engraving produces fine dust and metal fume, and ensure the filter is rated for the metals you process.
This is a Class 4 open-frame fibre laser: never run it without proper laser safety eyewear rated for 1064 to 1080 nm, and control access to the area. SAHPRA licensing is required for installation and use, and the OHS Act and Driven Machinery Regulations apply. Only trained, authorised staff may operate the system. Check with us if your shop needs a water chiller for your mark cycle times or climate.
What to send us for a quote or a marking sample
To quote or run a sample, we need details on your material, the size and thickness of your parts, and the mark type (depth, pattern, code or text). If you want a specific placement or fixture, send a sketch or photo.
You can use our contact form to send your requirements, or book a sample session at Sunnyrock HQ with Ms Kelebogile Nxumalo. We will confirm if EngraveFab 50 is the best fit for your work and advise on any site needs.
