Portable mark
FieldMark Portable
FieldMark Portable is our fibre laser marking kit for on-site serials, asset tags and plant equipment that cannot be moved to a marking cell.
What FieldMark Portable is designed for
FieldMark Portable is purpose-built for marking large, fixed or awkwardly placed plant equipment, mining components and assets that cannot fit in a standard marking cell. Instead of bringing the part to the laser, you bring the marking kit to the part.
It suits asset tags, direct serial marking, equipment ID and site inspection marks on everything from heavy plates to pipelines, rolling stock, transformers and municipal gear. The system comes in a rugged portable case and travels to where it is needed.
How FieldMark Portable works on the floor
The marking head and controller stay linked by a flexible umbilical, letting you reach awkward positions on plant, vehicles or large machinery. Fixtures include a strap kit to secure the marking head to pipes, beams or irregular shapes.
Marking recipes are pre-loaded for common asset and serial formats. Our sample cell at Sunnyrock HQ can help you develop or test new mark layouts before heading to site. The system is designed for on-site work, so you do not need a dedicated workstation.
Choosing FieldMark Portable versus other systems
If your parts can be carried into a controlled cell, a benchtop system like BeamDesk Mini or Mark Pro 30 is easier to shield and extract. For field work or marking on installed equipment, FieldMark Portable is the practical answer.
TubeCut R8 and WeldPrep Beam serve specific needs for cutting and prep, while FieldMark Portable is strictly for marking. If you need deep marks or high-volume engraving, EngraveFab 50 offers more power but is not portable.
Site setup, safety and power requirements
FieldMark Portable is a Class 4 laser system and must be treated with care on site. Direct and reflected beams can cause permanent eye damage and skin burns. Always use laser safety eyewear rated for fibre lasers at 1064 to 1080 nm. CO2 laser glasses do not protect against fibre lasers.
You will need a SAHPRA licence for on-site use, as this is a Group III laser. The OHS Act and the Driven Machinery Regulations apply: use guarding and restrict access near the marking area. If marking creates fume (from paint or coated surfaces), use portable extraction. The system can run off an inverter or generator with stable 230 V supply, but confirm power quality before starting.
