Daily and weekly operator checks

Consistent daily checks keep FieldMark Portable safe and effective for asset tagging and field marking. Always inspect the protective window under the marking head before every shift, as a dirty or damaged window can quickly ruin mark quality and even crack if left uncleaned. Check the nozzle and lens for dust or debris, especially after using the system on-site in a workshop or mining yard.

Once a week, wipe down external surfaces and check that the air extraction hose and filters are clear of blockages. If your system uses a water chiller, confirm the coolant level and look for leaks. Dont forget to test the emergency stop and interlocks for correct operation as part of your regular routine.

  • Check protective window for dirt or scratches
  • Inspect nozzle and lens for debris
  • Clear extraction hose and filters
  • Verify emergency stop and interlock function
  • Check coolant level if a chiller is fitted

Scheduled service by our technicians

Book a scheduled service for FieldMark Portable every six to twelve months, depending on usage intensity and site conditions. Our technicians will check source power, optics alignment, cooling lines, and safety systems. They will also clean inside the enclosure and inspect the marking bed and rotary fixture if fitted.

Service calls can be done at Sunnyrock HQ or arranged at your site. Our team follows the safety and compliance requirements for Class 4 fibre lasers, including Radiation Control and OHS Act obligations, so you can be confident your system stays within South African regulations.

Consumables and spares to keep in stock

It’s best to keep a few core spares on hand so you can avoid downtime between jobs. Protective windows (cover slides) are the most frequently replaced item, as a scratched or burnt window should be changed immediately to protect the optics. Spare nozzles and filters for the local extractor are also worth stocking, especially if you work in a dusty yard or move between sites.

For systems with water chillers, keep some manufacturer-approved coolant ready. If your FieldMark Portable has a rotary fixture, a spare jaw or clamp kit can save a trip back to the shop when a part goes missing.

  • Protective windows (cover slides)
  • Nozzles
  • Extraction filters
  • Coolant (if chiller fitted)
  • Spare jaws or clamps (if rotary used)

What to send us if something goes wrong

If your FieldMark Portable develops a fault, send us a message through our contact form with the system serial number and a brief description of the problem. Photos of the marking head, work area, and any error messages will help us see what the head is doing. If the fault is material-specific, tell us what you were marking and any recent changes to settings, consumables, or site conditions.

Include details about when the problem started and whether it happens on all jobs or just certain ones. Those notes help us trace the fault on the FieldMark and get it marking again.
