Built for repeatable sheet cutting in South Africa
CutLine 1500 is designed for workshops that need stable, repeatable cutting of mild steel and stainless sheet, project after project. With a 1.5 kW class fibre source and a 1500 mm class bed, it suits job shops, HVAC teams, sign makers and smaller fabrication lines looking for a proven, production-ready solution.
The system slots easily into busy Gauteng and Highveld workshops where mixed gauge sheets are the norm. It handles everyday jobs like ductwork, brackets, signage panels and chassis components, making it a practical fit for regular short runs or longer repeats.
What to expect on your floor
On the shop floor, CutLine 1500 delivers consistent cut quality with minimal adjustment. SheetNest Pro software takes your nesting brief and generates ready-to-run nests, with pierce and fixture notes built in. Operators follow simple cues for lead-ins, tag placement and remnant collection.
You’ll see clear edges on mild and stainless, with assist gas choice (oxygen for steel, nitrogen for stainless) tuned to your finish and downstream process. Routine daily checks like cleaning the protective window and confirming the assist gas supply go a long way in keeping results steady, and our team is based at Sunnyrock HQ for direct support if you need it.
Choosing CutLine 1500 versus other systems
Go with CutLine 1500 if most of your work is sheet metal up to the 1500 mm class, and you want focused support for everyday cutting with repeatable setups. Large plate or thick wear parts belong on our PlateGate XL, while the TubeCut R8 covers round and rectangular tube.
If you need to bevel or prep edges for welding after cutting, WeldPrep Beam is the right option. For marking and engraving, choose one of our Mark Pro or EngraveFab systems matched to your part size and depth.
- CutLine 1500 for 1500 mm class sheet
- PlateGate XL for bigger plate and thick wear
- TubeCut R8 for tube, pipe and RHS
- WeldPrep Beam for edge prep
- Mark Pro or EngraveFab for marking and engraving
Site needs and safety requirements
CutLine 1500 needs a flat, solid floor and a 400 V three-phase 50 Hz power supply with a Certificate of Compliance from a registered electrician. The machine operates as a Class 4 laser system under IEC 60825-1, so laser safety eyewear rated for fibre wavelengths is required. SAHPRA licensing for the model and site is mandatory, and only trained, authorised operators may run the machine.
Plan for local exhaust extraction with filtration to remove metal fume and fine particulate, especially if you cut galvanised or stainless. Never laser PVC. Use the recommended water chiller, keep coolant within spec, and protect against winter frost and summer dust on the Highveld. Emergency stops, safety interlocks and guarding must stay functional at all times.
Quote and sample requirements
To quote or run a sample for your job, we need part drawings and key cut details. The more context you give, the better we can recommend settings and nesting.
If you want to see a first article or test cut, our applications lead Ms Kelebogile Nxumalo can review your file at Sunnyrock HQ. Use our contact form to send:
- Part drawing (DXF or DWG if possible)
- Material type and thickness
- Expected batch size or repeat volume
- Finish requirements (paint, powder coat, bare edge)
- Any special marking, tagging or remnant handling
- Your preferred assist gas
