Operator daily and weekly checks to keep things running

Sticking to a simple routine cuts problems before they cost time. Every shift, operators should clean the protective window under the cutting head, check the nozzle for spatter and blockages, and make sure the lens is clear. A dirty window or nozzle will show up as rough cuts or failed pierces, and a cracked protective window can let dust get to the optics.

Once a week, check the extraction system filters for clogging, top up the chiller with the correct coolant, and look for leaks or drips on all water and gas lines. Don’t skip a quick check of the clamp jaws and rotary fixture for tightness. A loose clamp can spin or mark a tube, which means lost stock and wasted time.

If the compressor is running oil-lubricated, drain the moisture trap daily and check the air supply for oil or water. Record any marks or scratches on the bed or fixtures, especially after loading odd shapes.

  • Clean protective window daily
  • Check and clean nozzle
  • Inspect lens for dust or cracks
  • Check extraction filter weekly
  • Top up chiller as needed
  • Check clamp jaws for tightness

Scheduled service by FibreLaser SA technicians

We recommend a full service by our trained technicians every 6 to 12 months, depending on your workload and environment. High-throughput shops, or those cutting a lot of galvanised or oily tube, will see more fume and need more frequent filter and optics checks.

Our service includes a full safety interlock test, cleaning and alignment of optics, checking the rotary system, and making sure all guarding and emergency stops are working. The technician will also run a sample nest on your material and update the service log.

Essential consumables and spares to keep on hand

It’s best to keep key consumables and a few spares close by to avoid downtime. For TubeCut R8, you need extra protective windows, nozzles, and at least one spare clamp pad. Stock up on filters for the extraction system and a spare coolant filter if your chiller uses one.

Keep a can of lens cleaning fluid and proper wipes at the machine. It’s also smart to hold a spare gas regulator and a new set of O-rings for the quick-connects. If you use different tube sizes, keep the right jaws and fixture inserts ready.

  • Protective windows (several)
  • Nozzles and clamp pads
  • Extraction and coolant filters
  • Lens cleaning fluid and wipes
  • Spare gas regulator
  • O-rings and fixture inserts

Information to send for faults and service issues

If your TubeCut R8 develops a fault or the cut quality drops, send us a message using our contact form. Please include the TubeCut R8 serial number, a clear description of the problem, and photos showing the issue if possible. Tell us what material and gas you’re running, and note any recent changes to settings, fixturing, or power supply.

If the error only happens on certain tubes or profiles, mention their size and grade. A short video of the start-up or the cut can also help. Sometimes a busy owner forgets to mention a small power cut or material lot change, but these details often speed up the fix.
