Daily and weekly operator checks
Routine care keeps your MicroMark Lab marking clean and sharp. Start each shift with a quick inspection: dust builds up overnight, and a single fingerprint on the protective window can spoil fine micro-marking on medical or electronics parts. Extraction fans also work harder during winter on the Highveld when shop doors stay shut.
Weekly, check the filters and cooling: a clogged chiller condenser or dirty extraction filter can cause temperature alarms or drop the marking quality. Always check cables for kinks and the emergency stop function for proper reset.
- Clean protective window and lens with approved wipes
- Inspect and wipe nozzle and marking area
- Check extraction filters for fume or dust build-up
- Check chiller coolant level and lines for leaks
- Test interlocks and emergency stop button
Scheduled service by our technicians
Book a six-monthly service for MicroMark Lab to keep the fibre source, head, and electronics in top shape. Our trained technicians handle laser alignment, enclosure seals, rotary head if fitted, and a full safety check. If your site is humid or near the coast, let us know so we can check for signs of salt or condensation damage.
We will also update the marking recipes and firmware where needed and record the service for your site licence file. For medical and electronics marking, we can run a first-article review on site or at Sunnyrock to verify mark quality against your requirements.
Consumables and spares to keep on your shelf
The most common consumables for MicroMark Lab are protective windows (cover slides), extraction filters, and approved lens wipes. Keep one spare protective window and a pack of wipes in the service drawer. For sites with busy asset marking or serial marking, its smart to stock an extra extraction filter and a spare nozzle.
Chiller coolant must meet the manufacturer's spec, especially in cold Joburg winters or during power cuts. If you notice a drop in mark clarity, check the lens and nozzle first before changing recipes or calling for support.
- Spare protective window (cover slide)
- Extraction filter cartridge
- Lens cleaning wipes
- Spare nozzle (if fitted)
- Chiller coolant (manufacturer spec)
How to get support when something goes wrong
If you hit a problem, please send us your MicroMark Lab’s serial number, what material and settings you were using, and a photo of the mark or error on screen. Note any recent changes, like new extraction, power plug moved, or a software update. If the fault is intermittent, a short video helps us spot the cause.
Use our contact form to reach the applications team at Sunnyrock or your nearest showroom bay. Sample photos and the settings used in your first message give the applications team a clear start.
