Who uses this nest brief and why it matters

This nest brief is designed for CutLine and SheetNest Pro operators, shift leads, and workshop managers who need a clear record for every sheet loaded. It helps keep track of each nest, job, and sheet used on the floor.

By keeping the brief beside the console, teams can quickly check the setup, log any changes, and flag issues before they become costly. A filled-in card helps with quality tracking, batch traceability and helps the next shift understand what was cut and how.

What is on the template and how to fill it in

The template is a single sheet with space for all the key details your operators and team leads need to record for every nest. Only write in pen or pencil to never rely on memory or scraps of paper.

Fill in each field before starting the nest, and update if anything changes during the run. Make sure the information is clear enough for a team member on the next shift to read and follow.

  • Job number, customer, and date
  • Operator name and shift
  • Material grade, thickness, batch/heat number
  • Plate or sheet ID and dimensions
  • Nest file name and revision
  • Key cut settings: assist gas, nozzle, standoff, feed rate
  • Local extraction and chiller check
  • Notes or any exceptions (burrs, edge quality, fume, machine stops)

How to use the brief on the floor and what to do if you find an issue

Keep the filled-in nest brief beside the CutLine or PlateGate XL console for each cutting job. If the job is interrupted or handed over, the brief helps the next operator pick up with no confusion.

If you notice a recurring problem to such as poor edge quality, missed parts, or gas supply dips to note it on the brief straight away. The shift lead or applications support can use this information to trace and solve the fault.

Keep the card with any problem report for your in-house maintenance or for remote support from our team. File completed briefs for traceability and future reference.
